The Indian Government recently announced the next edition of the budget tablet , Aakash 4. It's price will be around Rs. 4000. The Aakash Tablets are aimed mainly at college and school students as an affordable option. As per the government notification, the tablet will come with a 7 inch LCD display having multi-touch upto 5 fingers and with atleast 800 x 480 px resolution.The Aakash 4 tablet will come with 1 Gb DDR3 Ram , 4 Gb Internal memory and a 32 GB micro SD card slot.

Aakash 4 is expected to run on Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2 OS and the government has set a benchmark of 3537 Antutu points for the tablet. It may have a capability of supporting OpenGL ES 2.0 playing true HD720p with at least 30fps. As per the proposal Aakash 4 Is expected to support 4G.

Government has asked the proposed vendor to fit a battery in Aakash 4 that would give minimum 3 hours for online 720p video playback with maximum brightness, minimum 5 hours on web browsing, 6 hours on e-reader and 30 days of standby time.

If the final product will be anything like the proposed specifications by the government, then Aakash 4 would be the best low priced tablet available on the market.
